- Intended use: The infrared ear thermometer can measure the infrared heat generated by eardrum area and surrounding tissues to reflect patient's body temperature accurately.
- Choking from swallowing hygiene covers and connection ring by children or pets is possible, please keep out of reach of children and pets.
FUNCTIONS
TEMPERATURE ALARM
- If the thermometer detects a body temperature 99.5°F (37.5°C), one long beep will sound followed by three short beeps to warn the user of potential fever.
SWITCHING BETWEEN FAHRENHEIT (°F) AND CELSIUS (°C)
- In 'Power off' mode, press and hold the 'Scan' button.
- Then press the 'On/Mem' button for 3 seconds whilst still holding the scan button. The '°C' will change to '°F'. You can use the same process to change from '°F' back to '°C'.
MEMORY FUNCTION
- Press the 'On/Mem' button again to see the last temperature stored. The thermometer will automatically save the last reading into the memory, if it is within the temperature range of 93.2°F to 108.0°F (34°C to 42.2°C).
INSTALLING THE HYGIENE COVER
Before first use, pull to remove the tab from the battery cover.
Correct installation of the hygiene cover ensures accurate readings. Always use a new and undamaged hygiene cover before each reading.
- Gently twist the probe cap to remove.
- Place a new hygiene cover into the connection ring.

TAKING A READING
HANDY TIP
Ensure the ear canal is clean.
- Press 'On/Mem' button. The thermometer is ready for use when the ear icon
stops flashing and two short beeps have sounded.
- Gently pull the baby's ear back, straightening the ear canal. Position the probe snugly into the ear canal, ensuring an accurate reading.
- To measure the ear temperature, press the 'Scan' button until there is a long beep.
- The LCD screen will light up automatically after pressing the scan button, and will automatically turn off after 5 seconds.
- The temperature will show clearly on the LCD display.
- To power off, hold down the 'On/Mem' button for approximately 5 seconds, until the LCD screen shows 'o'. The thermometer will automatically shut down after 1 minute if it is however not turned off, helping prolong battery life.
TIPS FOR TAKING AN ACCURATE READING
- Always use a new and undamaged hygiene cover before each reading.
- It is recommended that you measure 3 times in the same ear. If the 3 readings are different, select the highest temperature.
- There is no gender and age limitation for using infrared thermometers.
- Holding the thermometer too long may cause a higher ambient temperature reading.
This could make the body temperature reading lower than it actually is.
HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR READING
Understanding the meaning of your child's temperature.
READING | MEANING |
>96.3° - 99.4°F (>35.7° - 37.4°c) | Acceptable |
>99.4° - 101.3°F (>37.4° - 38.5°c) | Elevated |
>101.3° - 108.0°F (>38.5° - 42.2°c) | Possible High Fever |
REMEMBER if you are concerned about your child's health you should see a doctor. Even in the absence of fever those who exhibit a normal temperature may still need to receive medical attention.
CARE AND CLEANING
The probe is the most delicate part of the thermometer. When cleaning the lens handle with care to avoid damage. If device is accidentally used without a hygiene cover, clean the probe as follows:
- Use a cotton swab (Alcohol 70% concentration) to clean the lens found inside the probe.
- Allow the probe to fully dry for at least 1 minute.
- The thermometer should be stored at temperature between -20°C to +50°C.
- Keep the unit dry and away from any liquids and out of direct sunlight.
- The probe should not be submerged in any liquids.
- If the thermometer is used according to the instructions, periodic re-adjustment is not required. If at any time you question the accuracy of the temperature readings please contact us.
